As an organization Sigma Kappa encourages our members to be involved in their campus and community. Because of this focus on involvement outside of Sigma Kappa, our sisters are able to engage with the campus and community in ways that are important to them by hosting and participating in a number of different events.
Each semester our sisterhood chair puts on different events for our sisters to bond with one another. In 2018 we had two sisterhood retreats, one in the spring and one in the fall. In the spring we all went skating at the roller rink, where we also played games and talked about how to better communicate with each other. As for the fall semester we had a Sigma Kappa carnival. Our sisterhood chair, Aylissa, put together many carnival inspired games, face paint, balloon animals, and pizza. This retreat was right after bid day so the focus was on getting to know one another better. In addition each fall we have a Friendsgiving, this is set up at the house the Monday before Thanksgiving break. Our sisters are encouraged to come hang out and enjoy delicious Thanksgiving dishes.
Sigk Vibes and Sunny Skies. This was our theme for this years bid day. Our sisters wore boho styled accessories as we were thrilled to welcome 88 inspirational women into our chapter. The new members ran to the house while we all jumped for joy. As they met up with their heart sisters they got their very first letters and were introduced to other members in the chapter. Our Vice President of New Member Education, Torie, put on a fantastic evening. At bid day we had the local flower truck come to give flowers, a photo booth, a DJ, and lot of delicious foods.
Big Little Reveal
First they got their bids, and then they got their bigs! Our new member class were welcomed into incredible families as they got their bigs. The bigs are allowed to pick the themes for their big little reveal t-shirts, this allows girls to use their creativity for an event their littles will always remember. In 2018, our sisters designed some cute shirts for them and their families.
